Mazatlan has it all together when it comes to shopping. From open air mercados dowtown to boutiques or shopping malls, the assortment is varied, and the price is right. The Zona Dorada is the main shopping area of Mazatlan for souvenirs and arts & crafts, but don't stop there; some of your most interesting finds could be off the beaten path especially in Old Town.
Though the region is not known for any particular handicraft tradition, shops have an ample selection of items from all of Mexico. Centro de Artesanias offers a complete array of fine handicrafts with more than 20 shops. You can see artisans at work with lots of bartering and activity.
The traditional market in Mazatlan is found at Ocampo & Juarez. Mercado Jose Mario Pino Suarez or Centro Comercial El Mercado is one of the premier shopping venues with fine silver, leather goods, pottery, clothing, food stalls and some of the best vanilla you'll find in Mexico.
You will also encounter fine handmade crafts a short drive from Mazatlan. Concordia is know for it's wooden furniture. La Noria produces leather items and handmade saddles. Other towns make other crafts. The benefit of going to the "source" is that many times you can see how the items are made.
