Marina del Rey to Puerto Vallarta Yacht Race
(Late February)

Del Rey Yacht Club's biennial International Yacht Race from Marina del Rey to Puerto Vallarta finishes right off the beach in front of the Regina Westin Hotel & Resort, where most of the racers stay.

World Jazz Festival (May)

Independence Day (Sept. 15-16)

This festival includes the Grito de Dolores (shout or cry of Dolores) on the night of the 15th. This is a re-enactment of the cry for independence made by Miguel Hidalgo. Also included are parades, music and fireworks. On the 16th the town celebrates with parades and fesivities again.

Hook the Cure Fishing Tournament (October)
Be a part of the inaugural Hook the Cure event, a Mercury Redbone� Series I.G.F.A.-qualifier team tuna and catch-and-release big-game offshore competition benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Puerto Vallarta Art Festival
Annual Festival de las Artes features a month-long series of art gallery shows and open-air, beachside theater performances. An impressive range of artwork is displayed from artists throughout Mexico. All events are free to the public.

Old Town Art Walk (November-April)
The Old Town Art Walk is one of the most important and popular cultural events in Puerto Vallarta. Art galleries and events spotlight local and internationally known artists from Mexico and around the world.

Dia de la Virgen de Guadalupe (November)
In the small village of Quixmixto, south of Puerto Vallarta, the Virgin of Guadalupe is celebrated. Included in the festivities is mass at the local church and the local fisherman celebrate in the morning with song and offerings to the Virgin, in the bay.

Puerto Vallarta Gourmet Festival (November)
Mexico�s premier culinary event. It serves to showcase a spicy blend of culinary talents between the local chefs at participating restaurants and over 20 guest chefs from internationally acclaimed restaurants and hotels throughout the world. Gourmet cooking classes, sunset wine tasting and special gourmet menus at all participating venues available to diners only during the festival.

Jalisco International Sailfishing Tournament (November)
One of the most prestigious and traditional national and international tournaments on the West Coast of Mexico. 3-day tournament with daily weigh-ins in the Marina and Registration & Awards Dinner usually held at the Sheraton Bugamvilias in Puerto Vallarta.

Puerto Vallarta Film Festival (November)
The festival will feature screenings of John Huston's films. He is credited with placing PV on the international map because of his film, "The Night of the Iguana". Also included will be brief lectures on John Huston and his films.
