La Palapa de Jose Restaurant & Bar is situated on the coast of Baja, atop the sea cliff at La Mision. It offers an outstanding ocean view from the picture windows and spectacular sunsets. The restaurant has a tropical atmosphere, with palm trees, parrots and a huge salt water aquarium. An oval bars sits in the center, made of carved wood. There are 30 tables for dining, and a second floor has enough room for banquets for up to 100 people. Out in the back of the Restaurant is a beautiful garden with live birds, banana trees and a koi pond. Outdoor dining at it's finest!! Order yourself one of the fabulous margaritas, or the signature Palapa Punch. The menu is filled with delicious food from Carne Asada Tampiquena, to Quail with Mushroom Sauce, to Wonderful Lobster. There are many seafood, poultry, pork and beef items to choose from. The Mexican food served here is beyond compare.
Whether You are Looking for a place to camp, surf, relax, eat, drink, listen to live classical music, sing with karaoke, or just plain party, La Palapa de Jose is the place. Paco Diaz plays music Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 to 9:00. DJ on Friday and Saturday night from 10:00 to close. Weekdays there is always a happy hour.
Getting to La Palapa de Jose
Follow the road from the San Diego-Tijuana Border to the Rosarito-Ensenada
scenic road (The toll road). Follow the road past Rosarito, about 23 miles to
kilometer 63 on the toll road. This is the La Mision/Plaza Del Mar Exit. Turn
Right and go about 200 yards to K58 Campo Alisitos. You will see the signs, so
you know you are at the right place. Turn left and go into the campground. La
Palapa de Jose is at the south end of the camp. There are also trailers for rent and hot showers for campers staying at Alisitos campground.
