ASUPMATOMA Sea Turtle Nursery - Baja, Mexico

SEA TURTLE DISCOVERY TOURS from BAJA DISCOVERY
October 1-6 and October 8-13, 2005

On this six-day adventure you'll experience firsthand, the enjoyment of assisting an endangered species, the Olive Ridley sea turtle, on its return to the sea.
We'll meet you at the San Jose del Cabo airport and drive to Rancho Punta San Cristobal, a beautiful, stretch of sandy beach about 12 miles north of Cabo San Lucas along the Pacific Ocean. Once at camp, you'll search for turtles as they lay their eggs at night, then assist with the transfer of the eggs to a protected nursery. Camp naturalists will teach you about these magnificent creatures, that date back to the time of the dinosaurs.

There will be opportunities to release hundreds of tiny hatchlings to sea. Over the years, more than 32,000 hatchlings incubated in the camp's nursery, have been released by volunteers.

A side trip to Land's End is planned that includes snorkeling in one of Cabo's emerald coves. Vibrant fish will dart around you as you snorkel near the reefs. Who knows? You may even encounter a sea turtle!

The camp is sponsored by ASUPMATOMA, a nonprofit agency designed to protect the environment and the sea turtle in southern Baja California.

Join us for an experience you'll never forget!
