A beautiful Bed & Breakfast in historic Alamos, Mexico
We offer full breakfast, comfortable accomodations, beautiful gardens and pool.
Enjoy the crazy art, everchanging gardens and colorful rooms.

La Puerta Roja Inn first opened in 1986 when Teri Arnold threw wide the doors to her charming 19th century home to Alamos's weary travelers. Teri's colorful, inviting sense of style and her creative and delicious meals right away carried much appeal: her first guests returned home, described their stay to friends, who in turn told their friends, who then told their friends...

And today the B & B continues to hop with activity, smiles, and new faces. Friends regularly drop by for coffee or to check out a new piece of Mexican folk art. (Teri has acquired quite an eclectic collection!) Noon has proven itself a popular hour here for the local foreign community, thanks to Teri's love of and professional experience in cooking–together, Teri, Lolita, and her staff serve a fabulous lunch Monday-Saturday, 12:30-2:30. Overnight guests at La Puerta Roja join in as well, and often gather around the portal in the later hours to share notes on their Alamos experiences of birding, river rafting, and horseback riding, and their impressions of this authentic and ‘truly Mexican' town.

The inn is indeed alive, but all the while exudes a sense of tranquility. Enchanting, seasonal gardens surround the patio and cover the grounds. The mountains rise up in the west from behind a wall of fuchsia bougainvillea, and nearby, cacti, palms, and other indigenous shady trees grow side by side. For the warm months, a stone pool tucked in a private corner is ready for guests to take a dip, and a handmade chaise lounge for (what else?) lounging lies alongside a bubbling fountain. And in the cooler months? Guests warm themselves by the fire in the color-splashed & art-filled dining room. Here they may peruse Teri's extensive library, sip on a cappuccino, or breakfast on homemade scones with marmalade of naranjita, poached pears, or baked apples and a hot souffle.

Teri's bed & breakfast is as relaxing as it is fun, and our guest book is filled with delighted remarks about the hospitality, the creative atmosphere, and the great food. So if you plan to visit Alamos, Teri warmly invites you to stay with us, to bring your pets (she has a dog and outdoor cats), and to bring your children. All are welcome here!
