The entire town is designated a national colonial historic monument. It is located in the high desert l50 miles northwest of Mexico City and is easily accessible by premier bus service from Mexico City or personal driver from Leon. The weather is always temperate. It has more fiestas than any other city in Mexico. Activities include horseback and mountain bike riding, golf, tennis, croquet, bridge, hiking, hot springs, swimming, live theater, concerts, house and garden tours and craft and art shops. The town is also home to a bilingual library with many activities, and four schools for art, music, and language.
