Nestled into the hillside just a few blocks above the heart of the city of Puerto Vallarta sits one of the most charming small hotels in Mexico, Los Cuatro Vientos, and its world-renowned restaurant, Chez Elena.
Opened in the 1950's by the original "Elena" and operated continuously since 1980 by Gloria Whiting, whose special qualities enhance it even more, it has mainained its well-deserved reputation for delicious fresh food, friendly service, and its beautiful and romantic setting. |

Favorites on the menu include our signature dish, Sate Mixto, an Indonesian brochette of pork, beef and shrimp prepared with a peanut sauce. Giant shrimp wrapped in bacon and stuffed with cheese is another popular choice. Fish, beef, pork, Mexican dishes and vegetarian fare are featured on the delicious menu, as well as occasional special rarefied choices with which our chef is fond of experimenting and surprising us! There is a price and selection for everyone.
This lovely garden restaurant is quite often the setting for an intimate engagement dinner, anniversary or special birthday. Chez Elena caters to both small and large groups upon request, as well as private dinner parties, capable of serving as many as 100 people. Because it is a small hotel, the entire property can be transformed on occasion into a highly festive setting. Over the years we have hosted many wedding parties, often with members of the wedding party and friends flying to Vallarta to meet and celebrate. Slowly this has led to other special events, including everything from intimate anniversary and engagement dinners to corporate events, to small group getaways, etc. For intimate parties a table can be arranged on the rooftop terrace in a charming nook created by a bevy of plants, and a candlelit dinner catered to perfection. French champagne, tropical flowers, a bit of music or an entire mariachi band can be added to enhance the
occasion. Chez Elena makes an excellent choice for
corporate and incentive dinners.
Every detail of the event is taken care of and the needs of all guests are seen to so that everyone can enjoy simply being in paradise. It is not unusual for guests to leave feeling that the Chez Elena and Los Cuatro Vientos family has become part of their own extended family and Vallarta memories.
The restaurant is just one of the many charming surprises awaiting at Los Cuatro Vientos!! Once inside, you will want to walk up to the rooftop terrace (El Nido) where you can sit (with or without accompanying drinks) and enjoy an incredible view of the entire City and Bay. If you do care to imbibe, start with a Margarita or our house drink, "The Green Flash". Many of our guests like to conclude with our famous dessert coffee, Cafe Mulato, a wickedly yummy blend of three liquors, ice cream and "secret" ingredients flamed at your table. This is definitely guaranteed not to keep you from sleeping!! |
