Our new adobe home, in the peaceful pueblo of Tlalixtac is just 15 minutes from the center of Oaxaca, easily accessible by bus, taxi, or colectivo. Tlalixtac is a quiet and safe town where you will be greeted with friendly smiles and a cheerful "Buenos dias". Here you can experience Old Mexico, a place where the people use oxen to plow, make tortillas over wooden fires and the women carry baskets of produce on their heads. |

From our home, bike or walk to neighboring Santa Maria el Tule and visit the revered 2000 years-old Tule Tree, one of the largest trees in the Americas. We are also close to Teotitlan del Valle, where Teotitecos weave intricate woolen rugs using dying techniques thousands of years old. A few more minutes down the road by bus, for the more adventurous, or using our tour service will take you to the little known pre-Colombian ruins of Dainzu, Yagul and Lambityeco, then continue on to Mitla and the famous market of Tlacolula. Our efficiency apartment looks out onto the outside garden while our 4 comfortable guest rooms all face an interior flowering courtyard. There you can lounge in a hammock and savor a fresh cup of organic Oaxacan coffee, or a Mexican style hot chocolate. On our upstairs terrace you have a beautiful view of the surrounding Sierra Madre mountains. |
