Dr. Jorge Chávez offers professional cardiac care in Puerto Vallarta including complete cardiac evaluation, Electrocardiograms (EKG's), Treadmill Stress Test, Holter heart monitoring, Echocardiography and SPECIAL emphasis on coronary angiography (PTCA) and stent placement, pacemaker implantation and peripheral angiography procedures.

A graduate of University of Guadalajara School of Medicine, fully bilingual, completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Guadalajara Hospital and University of Utah Health Sciences Center in Salt Lake City. His exposure to U.S. medical training standards allowed him to "blend" and combine his rich clinical background with the "state of the art" technology found in American teaching and academic hospitals. It was there where he found his true professional passion: the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, under the guidance and support of Dr. William Barry, the Cath Lab Director.

Following his heart, Dr. Chávez applied to the most prestigious Cardiology Center in the country: The National Institute of Cardiology in Mexico City. He was one of 12 admitted each year from hundreds of applicants to attend the three year Cardiology fellowship. After completion of his clinical cardiology fellowship, he was selected for further training in the exciting and young sub-specialty of Interventional Cardiology. He is fully certified both in Clinical and Interventional Cardiology by the Mexican Board Council.

Dr. Chávez has been a pioneer in the area of Cardiology here in Puerto Vallarta, where he has established his practice. He is an active member of the Mexican Society of Cardiology (SMC) where he is appointed to the Chapter of Intensive Cardiac Care for the State of Jalisco. In the American College of Cardiology (ACC), he was advanced as Fellow this year, being a privilege given only to 2 other mexican cardiologists in this year´s promotion. To remain on the cutting edge of cardiac care, Dr. Chávez spends several months per year at the prestigious North Shore/Long Island Jewish Health System in Long Island, New York, learning "state of the art" techniques and sharpening his skills.

Dr. Chávez has his office in Intermedica, a multi-specialty group of successful bilingual physicians who thrive for the excellence in medicine and patient care.
