Todos Santos isn't your typical tourist town with festivals every few weeks. When
they do throw a fiesta or event, they do it right, though. A great source of local
information and events is El Calendario
de Todos Santos, a local monthly publication covering the area.
October 12 is the date of the festival of Nuestra Seņora del Pilar, the patron saint of Todos Santos. This date is celebrated as the founding of the town of Todos Santos. There are usually activities, including a fair and live music in the plaza, most of the week of
the 12th. There is dancing to live music in the evenings on the zocalo. And
lots of food and drink.
The Festival del Arte Todos Santos is usually held in February, opening with arts, crafts and dance in the main plaza. This festival usually includes music and dance and crafts of a very local nature, but not much "art". Local art galleries sometimes plan their new exhibits to coincide with the Art Festival.
The 14th annual Historic Home Tour takes place on February 23rd. Houses are chosen for their historic value as well as their lore and the interesting families that inhabit them. The tour begins at the Cultural Center, located in the heart of the historic district. Tickets may be purchased the day of the event at the Cultural Center, beginning at 10am. The tour is from 11am-3pm. Cost: $100 Pesos, or $10USD per person. There are 14 interesting historic homes/buildings on this years tour. Proceeds benefit our historic theater which is in dire need of renovation. Please contact Linda Stobbe for more information at Tel: (612) 145-0377.
