FRIENDS OF THE PARK A group of Mexican and extranjero mothers have received permission to raise funds to add safe equipment for young children and to fix and paint existing equipment in the Los Pinos park. HURRICANE SEASON IS JUNE 1 - NOVEMBER 30. Historically, the most active time is mid-August through mid-October. The 2002 Pacific Hurricane names are Alma, Boris, Cristina, Douglas, Elida, Fausto, Genevieve, Hernan, Iselle, Julio, Kenna, Lowell, Marie, Norbert, Odile, Polo, Rachael, Simon, Trudy, Vance, Winnie, Xavier, Yolanda, and Zeke. These names are re-cycled every six years (the 2001 list will be used again in 2007).

THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR ASTRONOMICAL SUMMER comes on June 10th, when we get a wonderful view of a solar eclipse. It starts from our location at 6:29 p.m., with a maximum at 7:32 p.m. The Sun will set while still eclipsed. At the maximum, the Sun will be about 95% covered by the Moon.

June 9, 8 am - 1 pm TIANGUIS IN THE PARK. The 2nd Sunday of every month. Spaces are 25 pesos per meter. Proceeds from the spaces benefit the Red Cross. Sellers must be a national or have a valid FM3, FM2 or tourist card.

June 20, 5 - 8 pm PRE-RELEASE PARTY FOR AGAVE SUNSETS. Renegade Entreprises will hold a pre-release party for Ann Hazard's new book, Agave Sunsets at Pancho's Restaurante and Tequila Bar in Cabo San Lucas.

September 15, dark GRITO DE LA INDEPENDENCIA In the plaza. Mexico's cry for independence is celebrated with a speech proclaiming, "ˇViva Mexico!", ringing of the church bells, fireworks and performances. A public dance in the plaza follows.

TODOS SANTOS TOMATOES An informal gathering of women in the Todos Santos area who meet to socialize and network. Meets the 3rd Thursday of every month, 1 - 3 p.m. The Tomatoes will resume meeting the 3rd Thursday in October. The Tomatoes are still collecting information for the Todos Santos phone book.
