THE AZUCENA'S ROOFTOP TERRACE & GARDENS

"...warm hospitality, excellent services and a rooftop terrace with an enchanting view."

Set in a restored colonial home, Hotel Azucenas (ah-zoo-say-nahs) is named for a wild lily that grows in the hills surrounding the city. It is located in a quiet neighborhood in one of the most traditional and charming corners of Oaxaca, only 5 blocks from the central square. With rooms wrapped around a sun-filled interior courtyard, from its roof top Terrace Garden and Café/Bar boast spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and city.

Canadian-owned, and managed by Donna Radtke and a wonderful long-term staff of Oaxacans, this small hostelry attracts a Mexican and international clientele. Guests enjoy having spacious and tranquil common areas reserved for those staying in the hotel. There they can treat themselves to a Buffet Breakfast while overlooking the valley, sit under umbrella-covered tables, amidst flowering bougainvilleas, gardenias and fruit trees or have a drink while watching the city lights come on and the stars come out over Monte Alban.

Located amongst cobble-stoned streets on the edge of the "Cerro del Fortin," which hosts Oaxaca´s annual Guelaguetza dance festival, the hotel is 1 block from the Basilica de la Soledad and a short walk to the cultural centre at the Ex-convento Santo Domingo.
