Rosarito To Ensenada Bike Ride, Fall 2004

Rosarito to Ensenada Bike Ride - hill climb 5
The last part of the climb was the most dramatic, as we rode right along the sheer rock walls of the mountain. Actually, the hill wasn't so bad, and as you can see in the photo even the younsters were able to make the ride.

Rosarito to Ensenada Bike Ride - hill climb 6
As I approached this rider in the white T-shirt, I heard some old Led Zepplin tunes (their mellow ballads) playing from a boom box which he had strapped onto the back of his bike, which made for great background music on this dramatic part of the ride.

Rosarito to Ensenada Bike Ride - hill check point
We're almost at the top here, and now a little surprise for those of you who didn't pay for your registration fee - a check point. Very clever those organizers, since there is nowhere else to go and you're just too tired to try anything. Might as well just pay up.

Rosarito to Ensenada Bike Ride - down hill
After the long climb uphill, there is a reward ... the downhill! Everyone gets a needed rest, and this guy on the beach cruiser says it all - Thumbs up.

Rosarito to Ensenada Bike Ride - water break
There is one more final official water station before heading towards Ensenada, which is the perfect time to load up on water and use the facilities if needed. By the way, all along the ride and in upper reaches of the hill, there were ambulances on hand, as well as Medivac helicopters in case of any major emergency.
