The Only Wildlife
Rehabilitation Center
in Latin America

The rehabilitation center is located in the facilities of the Mazatlan Aquarium. Species they rehabilitate include birds of prey, parrots, ducks and pelicans. It was first started by biologist Sandra Guido and it was created jointly as an idea between Sandra and American volunteer Kittie Jepsen.
The purpose was to raise funds from donations and also from proceeds generated from the little shop called El Planeta Azul, located within the Aquarium. Their group is called informally Friends of the Aquarium.

Among the volunteers, there are several veterinarians, educators, and marine biologists from both the Marine Science School at the Universidad Autonoma de Sinaloa and the Instituto de Ciencias del Mar y Limnologa from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico.

The volunteers are getting together to start the paperwork to get the non-profit status and incorporate the foundation which will officially be known as Fundacion Para La Conservacion de La Vida Silvestre de Mazatlan.
